Vanilla Walk

A couple of weeks ago, I began animating a vanilla walk for AM. This is the final product and I am proud to say I've received an A! I am now animating a walk with "personality" which is quite fun, however, I must admit that due to my misinterpretation of the lecture (they just said do any walk you want, it can be silly),  I made the mistake of not considering why the character is walking in the way that he is. Therefore, I ran into some minor issues. But I think it will be ok.

Composition article

So, this week, at Animation Mentor, we are animating a "ballie" walk cycle as well as creating a pose with "Stu".

One of the Peerbuddies Cameron Pratt, shared with me an article he wrote about composition that I thought was helpful and quite interesting. here it is

Another really cool article shared by Cameron's brother, is Beau Pratt's article about copying and pasting keys here

Amazing animatronics by Gustav Hoegen

I may not have a the genius eye of an animator of 20+ years but this looks pretty damn good.

This week in Animation Mentor, we are doing an assignment which requires us to animate two balls of the following choices: bowling ball, ping pong ball or a beach ball. I chose a bowling ball and a beach ball. It occurred to me that a physics class would be quite a good idea but that's a different subject for another time. Speaking of which, this is a great PHYSICS BALL BOUNCE SITE

So far, this is my animation:

First animation mentor animation assignment.

I know everyone thinks it's simple but its always a good idea to brush up on the ol' bouncing ball exercise every now and then. My mentor, Ryan recommended me stay away from squash and stretch and rotations for now so it is verrrry simple looking.

great resources for melscripts to make life easier in maya!

I would particularly recommend the push/pull script. Realllly useful!

demo reel as of today

Still lots of work to be done but now that I'm attending animation mentor, I'm sure I will be improving quickly and correcting bad habits that I have developed in my prior education!
